ROLE: CNC MILLER: PROGRAMMER, SETTER, OPERATOR
BASED: ROCHDALE
RATE: STARTING SALARY: UP TO £20.00 PER HOUR DEPENDENT ON SKILL AND EXPERIENCE
We currently have an opportunity for a skilled CNC Miller to join our team. We are an established, family-owned subcontract engineering firm specialising in precision CNC machining. We supply predominately machined steel fabrications and cast iron components to industry, ranging from 100 kg to 3 tonnes. The role provides the opportunity to work within our award-winning engineering facility in Rochdale alongside a team of highly skilled machinists using the latest technology.
This is a day shift position of 39 hours per week, flexible within Company opening hours. Overtime paid at time and a half up to 48 hours and double time thereafter. In addition, the role offers a benefits package including pension, 35 days holiday per annum and death-in-service benefit. The Company’s location has excellent motorway links and is close to Junction 20, M62.
The Role…
· Programming, setting and operating of Heidenhain CNC Milling Machines to produce low volume precision parts
· Setting up tooling and fixturing, prove out and execute part programs
· Follow planned operations to completion at prescribed production rates to meet customer delivery schedule
· Maximize production while maintaining effective and efficient use of materials and tooling
· Carry out in-process inspection to drawing specifications
· Present jobs to a high standard
· Forward plan to minimise set-up time and maximize production
· Comply with Company policies including H&S and quality
· Manage the programming of updates and new components
· Monitor machine performance
· Apply a continuous improvement approach
You…
In order to be successful in this position as a skilled CNC Miller, you will have the following skills and experience;
· Experienced in writing and editing programs
· Competent in setting and operating CNC machines
· Experienced in Heidenhain CNC controls
. Able to perform initial inspections of your own/a team member’s work using a variety of measuring equipment e.g. micrometers

· Able to read and interpret engineering drawings to a high standard
· Sound understanding of materials, modern cutting methods and engineering processes
· Produce high quality and accurate output with minimal error rate
· Able to work with minimum supervision and pro-active in solving your own problems
· Flexible approach to working and willing to work overtime as required to fulfil customer delivery schedules
· Methodical, detail orientated with strong mechanical aptitude
· Maintains high standards, led by accuracy & continuous improvement
· Strong work ethic and self-motivated
· Personable, team-player
· Experience of ISO 9001 quality requirements
· Trained in slinging, lifting and overhead crane use
